At Fairfield IEC, we endeavour to teach Science within a practical, engaging and student-centred framework through a literacy-based focus.
Our primary goal is to prepare students for transition to high school or other studies. For this reason, Science students are encouraged to be informed and reflective citizens through the use of evidence and reason to engage with and respond to scientific ideas.
The IEC Science curriculum covers topics within the three broad strands of Science, namely Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Students can progress through the relevant staged levels by developing their English language proficiency. This will enable students to utilise scientific text and manage their own independent Science learning.
Students will gain skills in:
- exploring and examining the world and beyond
- higher order reasoning
- examination techniques
- Science research
- writing Science and information reports
- oral presentations.
